HYDE PARK, NY — A months-long narcotics investigation led to the arrest of a Hyde Park man and the seizure of cocaine, fentanyl and two illegal handguns, authorities announced.
Tyrone K. Haskins, 63, of Hyde Park, was arrested Oct. 29 in the Town of Poughkeepsie without incident by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force.
The arrest followed an investigation that began after agents developed intelligence about a suspected dealer selling narcotics in Dutchess County.
Agents conducted multiple purchases of narcotics from Haskins during the investigation, which led to securing a search warrant for his residence at 2 Garden Street in Hyde Park.
Following Haskins’ arrest, Drug Task Force agents executed the search warrant at his residence with assistance from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Bureau, Town of Hyde Park Police and City of Beacon Police.
The search resulted in the seizure of large quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, drug packaging materials, U.S. currency, digital scales and other items associated with the sale and distribution of narcotics.
Agents also seized two illegal loaded handguns, one stolen from North Carolina, and a bulletproof vest.
Haskins was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree, criminal possession of stolen property 4th degree and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree.
He was arraigned in Hyde Park and remanded to Dutchess County Jail without bail.
Multiple sales charges related to the case are pending against Haskins.
