BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ — A dog sitter and babysitter was arrested on theft charges after a four-month investigation into the disappearance of luxury items from a client’s home.

Teresa Soraluz, 64, of Dover, was charged with second degree theft of moveable property on Oct. 29.

A Bernards Township resident reported the theft of luxury designer purses, shoes, clothing items and jewelry in June.

The same resident reported additional thefts of similar items in August.

The victim suffered a loss of more than $235,000 from the stolen items.

Detectives from the Bernards Township Detective Division and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit investigated the case.

The investigation revealed Soraluz was taking the victim’s luxury items after working at the residence.

On Oct. 29, detectives executed a search warrant on Soraluz’s home, vehicle and person.

The search recovered approximately 100 luxury purses, coats, shoes and pieces of jewelry.

Around 20 of those items, valued at approximately $150,000, belonged to the Bernards Township victim.

Soraluz was lodged at the Somerset County jail pending a court appearance.
