Silva is charged with maliciously damaging the ATM by means of an explosive device, in violation of federal law.

The incident occurred on Sept. 4 at an Eastern Bank in Woburn.

Investigators responded to a report of the ATM being tampered with and discovered the machine had sustained damage consistent with an explosive device being detonated.
