UTICA, NY — Police are investigating two separate shots fired incidents that occurred over the weekend.

On Oct. 25 at approximately 10:25 p.m., police units were dispatched to the 900 block of Blandina Street regarding a ShotSpotter alert of multiple rounds being fired.

Officers spoke with several residents who reported hearing the gunfire.

During a canvas of the area, officers located a residence where rounds had entered the home and damaged property inside.

A vehicle parked in the driveway at that home was also struck.

A total of 22 spent shell casings were located during the search, consistent with the ShotSpotter reporting.

On Oct. 26, police responded to a ShotSpotter alert regarding gunfire from the 1100 block of Dudley Avenue.

Officers located two spent shell casings and noticed an open door leading to a basement at the residence.

During a safety check of the basement, officers located a loaded 9mm handgun on top of a dryer, with rounds matching the type of casings located outside.

The investigation into the ownership of the weapon is ongoing, as well as the investigation into both shots fired incidents.
