CHEMUNG COUNTY, NY — A Corning woman has been arrested on felony larceny charges after allegedly issuing a bad check for more than $3,000.

McKenna M. Harris, 29, was charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony, and issuing a check with knowledge of insufficient funds, a class B misdemeanor.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division received a complaint Sept. 24 regarding the issuance of a check with insufficient funds that resulted in the loss of $3,010.

The check was issued to an individual as payment, which was subsequently cashed against the victim’s bank account balance.

The check was later returned as insufficient funds, and the victim lost $3,010 as a result.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that the funds to cover the check never existed in Harris’ account.

Harris was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
