Two-vehicle crash reported in Waitsfield

WAITSFIELD, VT — Vermont State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 100 and Route 17 on Oct. 26 at 4:26 p.m.

Police said Gerhild Bjornson, 82, of South Burlington, was operating a 2024 Nissan Ariya and failed to stop or yield the right of way when turning left onto Route 100 from Route 17.

Nicholas Durkee, 30, of Montpelier, was traveling south on Route 100 on a 2024 Kawasaki KLX motorcycle when he crashed into the front of Bjornson’s vehicle as it pulled in front of him, according to police.

Durkee sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center.

Bjornson was wearing a seat belt and reported no injuries.

Durkee was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Both vehicles sustained damage and were towed from the scene by Anytime Towing.

Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.
