Search continues for missing man in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD, NH — The New Hampshire State Police helicopter will conduct a scheduled search flight this morning in support of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department in the continued search for Robert Clay.

The search area will be in the Chesterfield and Westmoreland area.

Clay is a missing, vulnerable adult last seen in the area of Glebe Road in Chesterfield on the morning of Tuesday, June 24.

A Missing Vulnerable Adult/Silver Alert was later issued.

Clay, 78, of Chesterfield, was last reported to be wearing a denim shirt and pants with white sneakers.

The area was extensively searched for multiple days in June by Fish and Game and NHSP K9 teams, civilian search and rescue K9 teams, civilian search and rescue drone teams, New Hampshire National Guard searchers and members of the NHSP Special Events Response Team, as well as patrol units from Troop C and the Chesterfield Police Department.

Today’s mission is to conduct another aerial search now that some foliage has cleared up.

As hunting season approaches, anyone who sees anything they believe may be related to this case is encouraged to contact New Hampshire Fish and Game, NHSP or Chesterfield Police.

Clay is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 155 pounds and has brown hair and green eyes.

He was last seen at 8 p.m. on Monday, June 23, at his residence on Glebe Road in Chesterfield, where he is believed to have left on foot in an unknown direction of travel.

Clay has been diagnosed with dementia and could be wearing a watch that has his contact information on it.
