MERRIMACK, NH — A duck hunter discovered decomposed human remains near the banks of the Merrimack River on Sunday morning.
The remains were found off Wright Avenue around 10 a.m. when the hunter called 911 to report the discovery.
Merrimack Police Department officers responded to the scene and secured the area.
The department requested assistance from New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol due to the scene’s proximity to the river.
Personnel from both agencies are conducting a coordinated investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
The New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner have been notified and are assisting with identifying the remains.
