5 arrested on drug, weapons charges in Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, NY — Five people were arrested and two handguns and a large quantity of crack cocaine were seized during a search warrant execution Thursday evening, police said.

The Schenectady Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit and Special Operations Squad executed the search warrant at 10 Swan Street Apt. 3 on Oct. 23.

Thomas L. Smith, 38, of Schenectady, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C felony, and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony.

Matthew J. Skolnick, 36, of Schenectady, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C felony, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class B felonies.

Ieshia D. Leak, 36, of Magnolia, North Carolina, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C felony, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class B felonies.

Gregory R. Chapman, 39, of Schenectady, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C felony, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class B felonies.

Heidi E. Rathbun, 34, of Albany, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C felony, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class B felonies.
