Motorcyclist killed in crash in Waterford

WATERFORD, CT — A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a guardrail on Route 32 late Saturday night.

The Waterford Police Department responded to the scene at 11:20 p.m. in the area of Smith Cove on Route 32 southbound.

Officers determined that a Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling south on Route 32 hit the guardrail just prior to Richards Grove Road, ejecting the operator into a wooded area adjacent to the roadway.

Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, the accident did not involve any other motor vehicles.

Thomas Peabody, 55, of Westerly, Rhode Island, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Shoreline Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team responded and is investigating the accident.
