Man shot in Fitchburg

FITCHBURG, MA — A man was shot Saturday night on Plymouth Street, police said.

The Fitchburg Police Department received multiple reports of gunshots near the 200 block of Plymouth Street at approximately 10:29 p.m.

Officers arrived and found an adult male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound.

The victim was alert and conscious at the scene and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

During the investigation, police identified a suspect and issued a BOLO to neighboring law enforcement agencies.

Officers from the Winchendon Police Department located the suspect at approximately 1:00 a.m. and took him into custody without incident.

The suspect has been identified as Gabriel Rivera, 18, of Gardner.

Rivera is being held by the Fitchburg Police Department and is expected to be arraigned on multiple charges in Fitchburg District Court on Monday.

Police said the incident does not appear to be a random act of violence, as the individuals involved appear to be known to each other.
