JERSEY CITY, NJ — Authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Friday.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department responded to the incident shortly after 12:20 p.m. in the area of Jersey Avenue, 1st Street, and Maxwell Street.
Responding officers located an injured male with an apparent stab wound to the abdomen.
He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just after 1 p.m.
The cause and manner of death, as well as a positive identification of the male, are pending with the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
During the initial investigation, a person of interest was identified and remains in custody.
