CLARKSTOWN, NY — A woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a child passenger after state police clocked her vehicle traveling 101 mph on Interstate 87.
Nathalie DeOliveira, 40, of Bronx, was arrested Oct. 18 and charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger Less than 16, a felony under Leandra’s Law.
Troopers from State Police Tarrytown initiated a traffic stop on I-87 southbound at approximately 11:37 p.m. after observing a 2019 Honda SUV traveling 101 mph in a 55 mph zone.
The vehicle was also observed drifting into the right lane, nearly striking another vehicle.
Upon interviewing DeOliveira, troopers detected signs of alcohol impairment.
DeOliveira submitted to a standardized field sobriety test and preliminary breath test, both of which returned positive results for alcohol impairment.
Further investigation revealed that a child under the age of 16 was in the rear of the vehicle.
DeOliveira was transported to State Police barracks in Tarrytown for processing, where she provided a breath sample that recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.13 percent.
In addition to the DWI charge, DeOliveira was charged with speeding and other vehicle and traffic law violations.
She was released to a sober third party and is due in Clarkstown Town Court on Nov. 10.
