Two arrested on drug charges in Sherburne

SHERBURNE, NY — Two Sherburne residents were arrested on multiple drug-related charges early Friday morning in the Village of Sherburne.

At approximately 4:55 a.m. on Oct. 24, deputies were on routine patrol when they observed Jessica Baum, who was known to have an active warrant for her arrest, inside a vehicle at an address in the village.

Deputies approached the vehicle, which was occupied by Baum and Jason Wheeler.

During the investigation, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and reportedly located a quantity of methamphetamine, packaging materials, and digital scales.

Both Baum and Wheeler were taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree, and conspiracy in the fourth degree.

Both suspects were arraigned in Centralized Arraignment.

Baum was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Sherburne Village Court at a later date.

Wheeler was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail and is also scheduled to appear in Sherburne Village Court at a later date.
