HARRISON, NJ — Police responded to a false emergency call at Harrison High School on Thursday afternoon that was later determined to be a swatting incident.
The Harrison Police Department received a report of a suspicious person at the school at approximately 12:32 p.m.
Officers responded immediately and worked with school officials and partner agencies to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Surrounding schools and daycares were notified of the incident.
Following a thorough investigation, police determined the call was unfounded and identified it as a swatting incident, which is a false emergency report intended to provoke a law enforcement response.
Police said there was no threat to students or school personnel at any time.
The Harrison School District, Harrison Fire Department, Harrison Department of Public Works and St. Clare’s EMS assisted during the incident.
