Man arrested after disturbance in Norwalk

NORWALK, CT — Police arrested a man after multiple 911 calls reported a disturbance at Calf Pasture Beach on Oct. 23.

Norwalk Combined Dispatch received the calls at 11:25 a.m. reporting that a vehicle operator was driving erratically and threatened to shoot another motorist.

Patrol officers responded and searched for the vehicle, described as a BMW X1.

Officers located the vehicle traveling on Canfield Avenue and conducted a traffic stop.

The operator, identified as Alexander Freedman, 37, of Norwalk, was detained while officers investigated.

Witnesses told officers that Freedman had been speeding, driving recklessly and performing donuts in the parking lot.

When an individual confronted Freedman, he threatened to shoot him with a gun from his vehicle, witnesses said.

Officers searched Freedman’s vehicle and found several vape cartridges, a glass jar of liquid hashish and multiple jars and bags containing marijuana with a total combined weight of 4.817 pounds.

Officers also recovered a metal impact weapon from the vehicle.

Freedman was arrested without incident.

He was charged with threatening in the second degree, breach of peace in the second degree, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession with intent to sell 1 kilogram or more of a cannabis substance, sale of 1 kilogram or more of a cannabis substance, use of drug paraphernalia, violation of restricted substances, reckless driving and failure to renew registration.

Freedman was held on $125,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 6.
