Pedestrian struck by van in Rome

ROME, NY — A pedestrian was struck by a utility van Wednesday morning while attempting to cross Erie Boulevard East.

The Rome Police Department responded to the collision in the 200 block of Erie Boulevard East at approximately 10:50 a.m.

A 31-year-old man was treated at the scene by Rome Fire Department and AmCare Ambulance personnel.

The pedestrian was transported by LifeNet of NY to an area hospital for treatment.

The extent of the victim’s injuries are unknown at this time.

The operator of the utility van did not sustain any injuries.

The collision is under investigation by the Rome Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.
