UTICA, NY — A man faces weapons charges following an investigation into a shots fired incident earlier this month.
Utica Police units were dispatched to the 1400 block of Neilson Avenue on Oct. 13 regarding a shots fired investigation.
Police learned that following a physical altercation, a male fired at least one round from a handgun before all parties fled the scene.
The investigation was assigned to investigators with the GIVE Unit.
Through the investigation, police learned that another handgun was also displayed during the incident.
Investigators identified the male who possessed the displayed handgun, and on Oct. 20 officers located the individual.
During their interview, police learned he still possessed the weapon inside his residence, and officers obtained permission to secure the firearm.
Upon locating it, police determined it to be a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun, loaded with a 14-round magazine.
Chit Oo, 18, of Utica, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree — high capacity magazine.
