UTICA, NY — A man was arrested after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend during an argument on Oct. 22.
Utica Police and Utica Fire units were dispatched to the 1300 block of Genesee Street at approximately 4:30 p.m. regarding a stabbing investigation.
A 911 caller reported a male had just stabbed his girlfriend and that she was located inside the residence.
Officers arrived and located a male standing on the sidewalk holding a knife covered in blood.
Upon noticing the officers, the male immediately dropped the weapon and placed his hands above his head.
He was detained and placed into a patrol vehicle.
Officers made entry into the apartment and located a female suffering from numerous stab wounds to her head, neck and body.
She was transported to Wynn Hospital for treatment by the Utica Police Department.
Her injuries were not life threatening.
An investigation determined an argument had occurred with the knife changing hands during it, resulting in the female ultimately suffering the wounds.
Craig Powers, 41, of Utica, was charged with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
