Man arrested on burglary, DWI charges in Walton

WALTON, NY — A man faces burglary and driving while intoxicated charges following an incident Saturday evening.

Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced the arrest of Jacob Roman, 26, of Walton.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a burglary complaint on Benton Avenue in the Village of Walton at approximately 6 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies located a suspect matching the description provided by the complainant of a subject riding an E-bike on the sidewalk on Benton Avenue.

Deputies made contact with Roman and conducted an investigation.

Roman was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, as well as operating an E-bike while impaired, failure to stop when entering road/E-bike, operating a class three E-bike without a helmet and unlawful operation or parking E-bike on sidewalk, all violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Roman was additionally charged with one count of criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor, petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor and one count of burglary in the third degree, a class D felony, all of the New York State Penal Law.

Upon completion of arrest processing, Roman was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await centralized arraignment.
