PORTLAND, ME — A South Portland man was arrested Friday night after state police discovered two stolen handguns during a traffic stop.
A Maine State Police trooper from Troop I stopped a vehicle on Skyway Drive at approximately 9 p.m. for a defective taillight.
The driver was identified as Abdullahi Ahmed Mohamud, 29, of South Portland.
Troopers determined Mohamud was on bail conditions that prohibited him from using or possessing dangerous weapons and restricted him from being out between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of two stolen handguns.
Mohamud was arrested and charged with violation of conditions of release and receiving stolen property.
He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail.
