Inmate cited for false report in Rutland

RUTLAND, VT — An inmate at Marble Valley Correctional Facility has been cited for making a false report to law enforcement.

Jason Brown, 44, of Bennington, reported on Oct. 9 that he had been inappropriately touched by a correctional officer.

Vermont State Police investigated the complaint and obtained video footage from a camera in the area where the alleged incident occurred.

The video did not support Brown’s account, according to police.

Brown provided two sworn statements detailing an incident that was not supported by the video evidence, police said.

Brown was issued a criminal citation on Oct. 23 to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Rutland Criminal Division at 10 a.m. on Nov. 24.

He is charged with false reports to law enforcement authorities.
