Vehicle fire reported in Charleston

CHARLESTON, VT — State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that left a vehicle engulfed in flames on Route 105.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Carpenter Boulevard.

Initial reports indicated a passenger was trapped inside the burning vehicle.

First responders arriving at the scene determined the operator, Gunnar Edwards, 34, of Charleston, had exited the vehicle and was the sole occupant at the time of the crash.

Edwards was transported to North Country Hospital with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

The 2015 Dodge Charger sustained severe damage to its engine compartment from the fire.

Road conditions were wet from rain at the time of the incident.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
