NORWAY, ME — A man wanted on eight active arrest warrants was taken into custody after a 12-hour standoff on Tuesday.

Patrick McInnis was arrested at 168 Main Street following an incident that began the morning of Oct. 21, according to Norway Police Chief Jeffrey Campbell.

Police received credible information that McInnis was inside the residence that morning.

McInnis is believed to have been actively evading law enforcement since 2024 and had been the subject of an ongoing fugitive from justice investigation, Campbell said.

Officers from the Norway Police Department, Rumford Police Department, Oxford Police Department and Maine State Police responded to the scene and secured a perimeter around the residence.

A section of Main Street between Fair Street and Paris Street was closed during the incident.

Nearby residences and businesses were evacuated.

Officers attempted to communicate with McInnis via public address system and phone for several hours.

The Maine State Police Tactical Team responded to assist with the execution of a search warrant at the residence due to the nature of McInnis’s warrants and other risk factors.

McInnis was located within the residence and taken into custody after the standoff.

He was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital for evaluation before being booked at the Oxford County Jail.
