BOSTON, MA — A Wakefield man was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly stabbing a woman with a box cutter in South Boston.
Officers assigned to District C-6 responded to the area of 8 Allstate Road at about 5:17 p.m. on Oct. 21 for a report of a person stabbed.
Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of the suspect and information that he had stabbed an adult female with a box cutter.
Upon arrival, a detective immediately observed the suspect, who was holding a box cutter in his left hand.
The detective ordered the suspect to drop the weapon, which he refused.
The suspect began to swing the weapon and advanced towards the detective.
The detective continued to order and give verbal commands to the suspect to drop the weapon.
The suspect complied, and with the assistance of responding officers, was taken into custody.
The victim was transported by Boston EMS to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Christopher Baez, 36, of Wakefield, was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery.
