AFTON, NY — A 36-year-old man was arrested on charges of criminal contempt and stalking after allegedly contacting a victim through fake social media accounts in violation of a court order.

Cody L. Borawa, of Afton, was arrested on October 17 by members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Detective’s Division.

An investigation determined Borawa attempted to contact and interact with the victim through fake social media accounts despite an active full stay away Order of Protection, according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.

The order of protection stemmed from a similar arrest in February.

Borawa was charged with stalking in the fourth degree, a class B misdemeanor, and criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.

He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Afton Court at a later date.
