Two arrested on drug charges in Secaucus

SECAUCUS, NJ — Two New York men were arrested on drug charges following an investigation by the Secaucus Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit on Oct. 18.

Detectives were patrolling the area surrounding Wood Avenue at 7:55 p.m. when they observed Richard Salerno sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle.

When detectives approached the vehicle, they located Martin Rocchio, the passenger, who appeared to be holding drug paraphernalia in his hand.

Rocchio was placed under arrest.

During a search incident to his arrest, he was found in possession of over three ounces of suspected cocaine, Xanax and approximately three grams of suspected heroin.

Detectives conducted a search of the vehicle and seized additional drug paraphernalia.

Salerno was found in possession of a quantity of cocaine and Xanax and was also placed under arrest.

Rocchio, 51, of Bronx, New York, is charged with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute heroin, possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 500 feet of a public park, three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was lodged in the Hudson County Jail.

Salerno, 46, of West Harrison, New York, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and released pending his appearance in court.
