ROME, NY — A 74-year-old man was arrested Friday following an investigation into a fraud complaint.

Gregory T. Corradino, of Rome, was taken into custody after an investigation by the Rome Police Detective Division revealed he was using a victim’s identity and stole a significant sum of funds between December 2023 and March, according to police.

Corradino used a portion of the funds to purchase and sell vehicles at area car dealerships, which were determined to be fraudulent transactions, police said.

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles assisted in the investigation into the vehicle transactions.

Corradino was charged by the Rome Police Department with second-degree grand larceny, a class C felony, and first-degree identity theft, a class D felony.

He was subsequently charged by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles with 17 additional felony charges, including multiple counts of tampering with public records, identity theft and offering a false instrument for filing.

Corradino was arraigned in Rome City Court and released on his own recognizance.

An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
