NEWBURGH, NY — Two men were arrested after police responding to a gunshot detection alert found a loaded handgun and narcotics in their vehicle early Thursday morning.
City of Newburgh Police responded to the area of 60 Temple Ave. at 5:56 a.m. on Oct. 16 for a ShotSpotter activation indicating one round had been fired.
Officers arrived quickly and stopped a vehicle in the area.
Through investigation, officers located a loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic Taurus handgun.
Officers also found crack cocaine, cocaine, fentanyl and various pills.
The vehicle’s occupants were identified as Miguel Angel Cruz Jr., 22, of Newburgh, and Steven Wolfe, 29, of Newburgh.
Wolfe was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a Class C felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
Cruz was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
