Combine overturns in Homer

HOMER, NY — A combine rolled over after the operator lost control due to a mechanical issue on Oct. 17.

Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of East River Road and Shippey Road at approximately 5:09 p.m. for a reported personal injury crash.

Upon arrival, officers found a combine on its side in the yard of a residence at the corner of Shippey Road and East River Road.

The operator attempted to make the corner from Shippey Road onto East River Road when the combine exited the roadway, struck a telephone pole and rolled over.

The roadway was shut down for a short time.

The operator was evaluated on scene by TLC medical personnel and was confirmed to be uninjured.

The Homer Fire Department, TLC Ambulance, New York State DEC Spill Response, Morey’s Towing, CNY Towing and National Grid assisted the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office on scene.
