Man arrested after break-in in Longmeadow

LONGMEADOW, MA — A man was arrested early Thursday after breaking into a residence on Pinewood Drive.

Officers were called to the area at approximately 2:40 a.m. for a report of a male who broke into a residence.

Police determined the man entered a vehicle, used the garage door opener to open the garage, then entered the interior home door, triggering the alarm.

The man fled on foot, prompting a response from K-9 Reuben.

K-9 Reuben was deployed approximately 25 minutes after the man was last seen running toward Pinewood Hills.

K-9 Reuben acquired a track and located the man in a backyard, where he was taken into custody.

The suspect later told Officers Gale and Hysaj he surrendered due to K-9 Reuben’s command presence.

The East Longmeadow Police Department assisted with setting a perimeter and taking the suspect into custody.
