Woman arrested on weapons charges in Ellenville

ELLENVILLE, NY — A traffic stop led to the arrest of a woman on weapons and vehicle charges on Oct. 16.

Troopers from the Ellenville barracks observed a 2013 Hyundai traveling on North Main Street at approximately 6:08 p.m. operating in violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Troopers initiated a traffic stop and interviewed the driver and sole occupant, identified as Nicole C. Petrone, 41, of Wallkill.

During the investigation, Petrone was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended license, and the vehicle was not registered.

A subsequent search of the vehicle located an illegally possessed Sig Sauer P365 .380 caliber semiautomatic handgun and two magazines.

Petrone was arrested and transported to State Police Ellenville for processing without incident.

Petrone was charged with criminal use of a firearm 2nd degree, possess deadly weapon loaded, a class C felony; criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree, ammunition feeding device, a class D felony; aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle 3rd degree, an unclassified misdemeanor; and multiple traffic infractions.

Petrone was arraigned at the Wawarsing Town Court Central Arraignment Part and released with pretrial supervision in lieu of bail while she awaits further court appearances.
