Man arrested on stolen vehicle charge in Providence

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Connecticut man was arrested on a charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle following a traffic stop on Admiral Street.

Jamal Lawson, 34, of Winstead, Connecticut, was taken into custody at 9:16 p.m. Oct. 17.

Lawson was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and held overnight as a probation and bail violator pending morning arraignment.

In a separate incident, Shane Strother, 22, of Providence, was arrested at 11:35 p.m. Oct. 17 following a traffic stop on Pawtucket Avenue in Pawtucket.

Strother was charged with obstruction and driving with a suspended license, fourth or subsequent offense.

He was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and released with a future Sixth Division District Court arraignment date.

At 1:30 a.m. Oct. 18, John Ramos, 61, of Lancaster, Massachusetts, was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 10 in Providence.

Ramos was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, BAC .10 to .15, first offense.

His blood alcohol content registered 0.137% in the first phase and 0.141% in the second phase.

Ramos was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and released into the custody of a responsible adult.
