Man arrested in shooting investigation in Peekskill

PEEKSKILL, NY — A Poughkeepsie man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in August.

Peekskill police officers responded to the area of Main Street and Charles Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. Aug. 17 for reports of shots fired.

An investigation confirmed that a firearm had been discharged during an altercation.

Anthony D. Taylor, of Poughkeepsie, was identified as a suspect in the shooting.

Taylor was arrested Oct. 16 in Maryland by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the United States Marshal Service.

Taylor is currently being held in Maryland pending an extradition hearing.

Upon his extradition to New York, Taylor will face a charge of second-degree murder in Poughkeepsie, in addition to criminal charges related to the Aug. 17 shooting in Peekskill.

The Peekskill Police Department collaborated with the Westchester County District Attorney’s office, FBI Safe Streets Task Force, U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, Howard County Police Department and the Poughkeepsie Police Department.
