PERTH AMBOY, NJ — Firefighters rescued a dog from a house fire on Friday afternoon.
The Perth Amboy Fire Department was dispatched to 52 State Street at 5:22 p.m. for a reported structure fire.
Upon arrival, heavy smoke and fire was showing from the rear of the single family home and a second alarm was transmitted.
Crews stretched two hoselines to quickly contain and extinguish the fire while searches were conducted and ventilation was completed.
A dog was removed by Rescue 1 and given oxygen utilizing a pet oxygen mask by EMS.
The dog was fine shortly after.
There were no injuries to report.
Six people were displaced and are being assisted by the city’s relocation officers and the Red Cross.
The fire is under investigation by the Perth Amboy Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit.
City units on scene were Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 4, Truck 2, Rescue 1 and command units.
Woodbridge Truck 1 and Hopelawn Rescue 8 assisted on scene while Sayreville Engine 3 covered the city.
