JAMESTOWN, NY — Police arrested a man accused of violating an order of protection after finding him hiding in a closet at a southside apartment.
Officers responded to the address at 8:38 a.m. Oct. 17 for a report of an unwanted person.
Through investigation, police determined Robert G. Gilbert was inside the apartment in violation of an order of protection.
Officers entered the apartment and found Gilbert hiding in a closet.
Gilbert was taken into custody without incident and transported to the city jail.
He is being held pending arraignment on a charge of first-degree criminal contempt.
The charge was elevated due to a prior conviction for second-degree criminal contempt 11 days earlier.
