Man arrested on assault charge in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — A Springfield man faces assault and criminal mischief charges following an incident at Briant Park Drive.

Officers were dispatched to the area on Oct. 7 on a report of an assault.

As a result of a follow-up investigation by Detective Bureau personnel, the 47-year-old man was charged with simple assault and criminal mischief.

In a separate incident on Oct. 9, officers responded to Kipling Avenue on a report of a male banging on a resident’s door.

As a result of an on-scene investigation, a 57-year-old Far Hills man was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.

A second suspect, a 48-year-old Newark man, was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Elizabeth and Newark.

As a result of a follow-up investigation by Detective Bureau personnel, the Far Hills man was found to have provided a false identity at the scene and was additionally charged with hindering apprehension.

Also on Oct. 9, an officer on routine patrol on Mountain Avenue observed an individual with a known outstanding warrant out of Springfield.

The suspect, a 40-year-old Springfield man, was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant, and additionally charged with possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

A 54-year-old Clifton man was charged with harassment on Oct. 9 as a result of a Detective Bureau investigation of threats made at a Fadem Road business.

On Oct. 11, a 31-year-old Newark woman was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Morris Avenue.

Officers responded to Center Street on Oct. 11 on a report of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.

As a result of an on-scene investigation, a 29-year-old Springfield man was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Warren County Sheriff’s Department.

On Oct. 14, as a result of a follow-up investigation by Detective Bureau personnel into a theft reported on Oct. 2 from a Briant Park Drive building, a 41-year-old Newark woman was charged with theft.
