LEWISTON, NY — Police K9 units discovered two shotguns in a vehicle at Lewiston Porter High School on Thursday.
Lewiston Police K9, along with K9 officers from Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, North Tonawanda Police and Erie County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a search of the school.
A K9 alerted on a vehicle in the parking lot, leading to a search that uncovered the two shotguns.
Lewiston Police secured the firearms, and the student is cooperating with the investigation.
Police determined there was no threat to the school and that the firearms were left in the vehicle inadvertently.
The student has been charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds.
