ALBANY — A 61-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning in what police are investigating as a domestic homicide.
Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Hudson Avenue near South Lake Avenue around 8:10 a.m. for reports of an unresponsive female.
Upon arrival, officers located the woman, who had sustained a significant head injury.
The victim was treated on scene by the Albany Fire Department and emergency medical personnel and pronounced deceased.
Police determined that her brother, a 60-year-old man, caused the death of the victim prior to fleeing the scene.
The Albany Police Department’s Emergency Service Team and Crisis Management Team responded to the 100 block of Western Avenue, where the suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect will be arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court Thursday morning.
