Man arrested on sexual assault charge in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT — A 28-year-old man was arrested today for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage female student on her way to school this morning.

Cordero Javier Greaves, of Bridgeport, was taken into custody at his residence at approximately 1 p.m. by detectives from the Special Victims Unit.

Detectives had been searching for Greaves throughout the morning with the help of Task Force Officers and Patrol Officers.

The School Resource Unit also assisted in the investigation.

The arrest took place without incident near where the sexual assault occurred on Railroad Avenue.

Greaves was charged with sexual assault in the first degree, risk of injury to a minor, illegal sexual contact with a person under 16 years of age, unlawful restraint in the first degree and threatening in the second degree.

His bond was set at $750,000.
