Woman arrested on drug-impaired driving charge in Hamden

HAMDEN — A woman was arrested following a two-car motor vehicle accident on County Highway 26 near the intersection of East Brook Road on Oct. 12.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the personal injury accident and conducted an investigation.

A Drug Recognition Expert performed a drug influence evaluation at the scene.

Investigators determined that one of the operators, Tonia Massaquoi, 20, of Oneonta, New York, was traveling at an unsafe speed on County Highway 26 and failed to stop at the stop sign.

Deputies arrested Massaquoi for driving while ability is impaired by the use of drugs.

She was additionally issued traffic summonses for unsafe speed, failure to yield the right of way, failure to stop at a stop sign and disobeying a traffic control device.

Massaquoi was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear at the Town of Hamden Court at a later date to answer the charges.
