GLENS FALLS — A 43-year-old man was arrested after allegedly attempting to break into a residence early Sunday morning.
Glens Falls police were dispatched to Division Street at approximately 1:30 a.m. for a report of a male attempting to break into a residence.
Officers observed a male on the porch of an occupied residence upon arrival.
The male was identified as Justin D. Rychlik, 43.
Rychlik pushed a uniformed officer who was beginning an investigation into the incident, police said.
Rychlik was placed into custody after initially resisting arrest.
While being placed into a patrol vehicle, Rychlik attempted to kick the window of the vehicle, police said.
An officer used OC spray, which made Rychlik become compliant.
Police allege Rychlik attempted to gain entry into the occupied residence by pushing in a window unit air conditioner, which fell near a child, causing the child to wake up and cry.
Rychlik was also violating a duly served order of protection ordering him not to have contact of any kind with a subject inside the residence, police said.
Rychlik also had an active warrant for his arrest at the time of the incident.
Rychlik was arraigned in Warren County CAP Court and remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility.
He was charged with attempted burglary in the second degree, two counts of criminal mischief in the third degree, criminal contempt in the second degree, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, bail jumping in the third degree and harassment in the second degree.
