WOOLWICH — A Biddeford man was arrested on felony charges after a head-on collision Sunday evening that seriously injured a 71-year-old woman.

The crash occurred at 6:09 p.m. on U.S. Route 1 near the intersection of the southern entrance to Weston Road, according to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office.

Porter Sickels, 33, of Biddeford, was driving a 2018 Ford F-150 south on U.S. Route 1 when he crossed over the centerline and collided with a 2007 Toyota 4Runner.

The pickup truck careened off the road after impact.

The Toyota spun around and came to rest in the southbound breakdown lane with extensive damage.

Deborah Webster, 71, of Round Pond, was operating the Toyota and sustained serious injuries.

Webster needed to be extracted from the vehicle and was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland by Life Flight.

Sickels sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, where he was treated and released.

He was subsequently arrested for aggravated operating under the influence with serious bodily injury, a felony.

Sickels is being held at Two Bridges Regional Jail on $10,000 cash bail and will be arraigned later this week.

Sagadahoc County Sergeant Matt Sharpe is investigating the crash, which is being reconstructed by members of the sheriff’s office.

Woolwich Fire/Rescue provided emergency medical services, along with Mid Coast Hospital MC-1.

The Bath Police Department also assisted at the scene.

A section of U.S. Route 1 was closed for just over three hours and reopened to traffic at 9:30 p.m.
