Jamestown traffic stop leads to drug arrests, seizure of methamphetamine

JAMESTOWN — Officers conducted a traffic stop Oct. 11 at around 8:16 p.m. in the area of Cole Avenue and Snell Place for observed traffic infractions.

Police identified the vehicle occupants as Rachel S. Anderson and Shane M. Hurlburt.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 241.9 grams of methamphetamine, 6.6 grams of individually packaged fentanyl, a digital scale and additional drug paraphernalia.

Both suspects were taken into custody without incident and transported to Jamestown City Jail.

At the jail, officers discovered Hurlburt had an outstanding parole warrant from Pennsylvania and was carrying additional quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine.

Anderson was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second, third and fourth degrees, and criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

Hurlburt was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and fugitive from justice.

Both suspects were held at Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
