HILLSBORO — A jury found Nicholas Kemp guilty Thursday of possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute in Hillsborough County Superior Court North.

Kemp was originally arrested in October 2024 by Hillsboro Police Department officers.

At the time of his arrest, Kemp was found to be in possession of 67 bindles of fentanyl packaged for individual sale, as well as an additional four “fingers” of fentanyl.

During closing arguments, prosecutors told the jury that the total quantity of fentanyl seized was sufficient to produce more than 2,000 individual doses, based on average user consumption.

The jury returned a guilty verdict after deliberation.

Sentencing is scheduled to take place later this month.
