ROCKINGHAM — Two vehicles collided on VT-121 near house number 728 at approximately 9:14 a.m. Oct. 13, according to Vermont State Police.

Mikaela A. Mellish, 26, of Chester was driving a 2023 GMC Sierra eastbound when she struck the rear of a 2017 Honda Pilot operated by Nathan C. Bennett, 43, of Grafton.

The crash occurred when a vehicle ahead had stopped in the eastbound travel lane near a gradual right-hand curve, with the operator attending to unrestrained dogs in the roadway.

Bennett’s vehicle braked suddenly to avoid contact with the stopped vehicle.

Mellish was unable to stop in time and struck Bennett’s vehicle from behind.

Two juvenile passengers, ages 2 and 3, were in Mellish’s vehicle at the time of the crash.

All occupants were wearing seat belts and no injuries were reported.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage but were able to be driven from the scene.

Road conditions were wet and weather was cloudy at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by Vermont State Police Westminster Barracks.
