STILLWATER — A Malta woman was arrested on a felony criminal contempt charge Friday morning during a sheriff’s investigation into a littering complaint.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to the littering complaint at 9:02 a.m. on state Route 9P in Stillwater.
The investigation led to the arrest of Kristal L. Wescott, 38, of Malta, on a charge of criminal contempt in the first degree, a class E felony.
Wescott is accused of violating an order of protection by failing to stay away from the protected person.
The charge was elevated to a felony due to a previous conviction for criminal contempt within the preceding five years.
The arrest was not part of the original complaint and was discovered during the investigation.
Wescott was released on an appearance ticket pending further proceedings in Stillwater Town Court.
