VICTORY — A 69-year-old Victory woman was arrested Sept. 29 on charges of criminal tampering and criminal mischief stemming from alleged property damage at businesses in two communities.
Linda M. Murphy was taken into custody at 10:35 p.m. on an arrest warrant, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.
Murphy faces charges of criminal tampering in the third degree, a Class B misdemeanor, and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
The charges stem from an incident Aug. 23 at 12:24 a.m. when deputies responded to a business in the Village of Weedsport for a report of property damage.
The suspect had left the area before deputies arrived.
Deputies were later dispatched to a disturbance in the Town of Victory involving Murphy.
Investigation determined Murphy was responsible for intentionally damaging property at businesses in both Weedsport and Victory, according to the sheriff’s office.
Murphy was processed and brought to Cayuga County Jail for arraignment Sept. 30 at 7 a.m.
She is scheduled to appear in both courts at a later date.
