Man found dead in Standish home, state police investigating

STANDISH — Maine State Police are investigating the death of a 49-year-old man found inside a residence Friday evening.

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to 715 River Road at approximately 6:50 p.m. Oct. 3 for a disturbance.

Upon arrival, deputies found a male deceased inside the home.

The sheriff’s office requested assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South.

The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy.

The man has been identified as Matthew Hamilton of Cumberland County.

The cause and manner of death are not being released at this time.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is ongoing.

All persons involved in the incident have been identified and there is no threat to the public.
