Fall River man arrested after firing shots, claiming he was being followed

FALL RIVER — A 28-year-old man was arrested Friday morning after firing multiple gunshots in a residential area while claiming he was being followed, though surveillance footage showed no evidence of anyone pursuing him.

Thaddeus Quinones was taken into custody at approximately 5:40 a.m. after officers responded to the area of County Street and Eastern Avenue following multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots.

One caller reported a bullet hole in a wall of an Eastern Avenue residence.

While officers were en route, Quinones called police stating he had fired shots at individuals who were following him.

Officers detained Quinones outside his residence upon arrival.

A review of multiple surveillance cameras revealed no evidence of anyone following Quinones, according to the Fall River Police Department.

A search warrant executed at the residence led to the discovery of two unloaded handguns, multiple magazines and ammunition.

Officers searching outside locations on Eastern Avenue found a 30-round magazine, three spent shell casings and a bullet hole in a residence.

A spent casing was also located inside Quinones’s vehicle, which was towed for processing.

Quinones did not possess a License to Carry.

He was charged with possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device, improper storage of a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, carrying a firearm without a license and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.

Multiple charges were filed for some offenses.

The investigation is ongoing, with detectives continuing to collect and review surveillance footage.
